More about the NAKED lady

I can't figure out WHY the naked lady bloomed so early. Usually they come up in late September to mid October. That's a wonderful time of the year to get some color in our yard. And then we have some red ones come up close to the fence. They bloom and then the leaves come up about 3 weeks later. And then they STAY green even during snow.

Today is August 2nd. It's 11.40 in the morning and it's already 103 degrees.

So WHY are the naked ladies coming up; well, it's not all of them, it's just ONE.

But that stalk is gonna have more blooms on it. Aren't they pretty? I just love to see them all in bloom. I just wonder if that little bit of moisture they have gotten from the sprinkler is what's making them grow so early.

No shoots there!!

And no shoots here!! Usually when one comes up the others peep their heads out into the sunshine too.

Here's the sprinkler. So it IS big enough for the over spray to get to the ladies, EXCEPT the ladies are south of the sprinkler. This time of year the wind ALWAYS blows from the south so the over spray will go north.

So that's not the reason.

And since it's still a mystery, I took pictures of all my other flowers. These, believe it or not, are geranium. There are also some red ones in the pot. My mom loved red geranium.

And this is moss rose. When we lived in Eagle Rock, a suburb of LA, we had this growing up the incline to the house.

The strands were so thick we used them for a rope to climb up so we didn't have to go to the stairs.

I don't know what this is. A friend gave this to me. It is a really beautiful green

I don't know what this is either, but I kept the name tag so I can get some more next year.
I love flowers. I just think that make the house more friendly.

As you can see again, it's 103 outside and only 11.40.!!!! Tomorrow-----tomorrow---will be a better day.

And now I sound like Scarlett.
If you know who Scarlett is, make a commen, leave your email so I can send you something  if you get it right!!!

Oh no there is a NAKED lady in our front yard!!!

When we bought our house in 1970, we inherited the naked ladies too.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore lived in our house . When they passed on we bought it for a whopping $7500.  The house and the 1 1/3 acres. We have since bought the 12 acres behind our house. House, 2 wells, pond (or tank if you come from Texas) and some deer, raccoon, turkey, quail and pigeon. So much fun to watch all those animals. We feed the birds and the deer. What they leave the turkey, ducks, raccoon, possum, and other animals eat.

I am rambling. I know it's because I really like where we live.

So, back to the  story of the naked lady. I mentioned to Jerry when I first saw it that we had a NAKED lady in the front yard.

His reply---OOOH!!! We HAVE to go back.

I said---Why??

He replied---We are gonna have to put some clothes on her so she does cause a wreck!!!!

Isn't that too cute. I love his sense of humor!!!

Mr. Moore told me one day that they had Naked Ladies in their front yard.

I was only in my 20's and man I didn't know what to think. Here we are in church and he's talking about naked ladies!!!

I had no thoughts.Could not come up with anything to say. I was dumbstruck!!!

We drove by the house one day and there they were

THERE is the naked lady in all her glory! Well, that's not true. After they finish blossoming they are the most beautiful pink flower. In the fall---which this isn't, it's August---the flowers come out. And in the spring the leaves come out. I have seen red ones around her too. I would love to have some more. With different sizes and colors.

A different view. This is so unusual for them to bloom this early. Of course Jerry has been watering and that may be why we only have the one flower right now. I hope it doesn't mean we are in for an early winter. Last time they bloomed this early we had the coldest October we have every had.
Wait until tomorrow and you can see how beautiful they are.!!!

And as I came back from the outside heat I took pictures of the rest of the plants on the porch. The geraniums are in tribute to my mom. She loved RED geranium.

But I love all kinds of flowers. Since I don't sweat and therefore can't take care of flower beds I just grow the flowers in pots. And it makes for a beautiful front scape to our home.

BLOG Hop

I hope I did this right. If I did you and I will get to visit with some really fun and interesting bloggers

It's a SLOW day

Yesterday our outside thermometer had 111 degrees on it. YUCK!!!!

This morning the same thermometer read 79 degrees. at 6.30am. YUCKO!!!!

Today is supposed to be even more heat!!! YUCKY!!!

But then I got to remembering when we didn't HAVE the AC. OMG what days and nights were then.

So, right now I am not dreading this day.  Even though it might get to 111.

We have a fantastic Air Conditioner.

And we know how to use it!!

Hannah and Laramie

Hannah is a new friend of mine. She is soooo close to having this baby. I just am hoping we can get through this lunch without having to make a trip to the hospital.

She chose this really cute Mexican place to eat.

I love the atmosphere. And the guacamole. I'm not gonna lie about it. You can get the grilled (sauteed? fried?) jalapenos and some guacamole and you will faint. They taste so good together.

Today, Hannah and I are making plans for her and her Mary Kay business. Got some presents for her and some info to leave with her and I just know that she will take it and run. Even though the baby is not even here.

She's having some twitches in her lower abdomen!!! We're praying the baby will get here tomorrow.

Have you ever met someone and just instantly liked them?

Well Hannah is that way. Sweet, intelligent, grounded and happy.

This is Hannah. She has a beautiful smile. And look at her eyes. Her happiness goes all the way down into the middle of her. I just love her.

Can't decide which picture I like the most, so I put both in the blog for today.

Now for a picture of little Laramie!!!!
There she is!! Laramie!! It;s a 110 outside and Hannah has that beautiful smile on her face. She's happy and ready for that baby to be born.

Happy Birthday Laramie!!!

Novaline

Then we went to the Target. Got some pencils and a hand sharpener. Some snacks and candy.
Diane, Novaline's daughter

On to the Jack in the Box.  They had a sign that said large cokes for $1. We all got one. I think I could have had a small, because that LARGE was really a LARGER. I about popped before we got home.
Diana

Jerry is a wonderful husband because he never said a thing about what I bought , but ---Why didn't you get more.
This is what was in the back seat. You should  have seen the front

Food---FUN---GIFTS

I told you we had FUN at Seminar!!! Here's Donna doing--well, learning---a line dance after lunch one day. I know why the one with the long blonde hair is so skinny. SHE'S one of the dancers who entertain us during the general sessions.

More food time!!! We eat, we go to class, we eat and we go to class and then we eat again. This day we were in the Sport's bar at the hotel. WONDERFUL food. I had the nachos.  FABULOUS!!! The girl seated is Judy and the one standing is Kathy.

And then we have GIFTS!!!

Not a very good picture of the bumble bee. It is SO gorgeous. And when I get to the level of Director I can get one---or even sixteen. I just have to find out how!!!!

More gifts!! This is what the Director's in Queen's Courts get. Is that not FABULOUS??? I'm gonna have one.

So you see why I love Mary Kay. They gave away about 30 of these necklaces to our seminar. And there are five seminars. Talk about a big chunk of cash.

And we feel appreciated!!! This makes the appreciation tangible. It makes it personal.  EVEN if we don't have one YET!!!

Where could I work and get this kind of compensation?  No where.
