September 27th

Today is a beautiful day. Cool with a chance for rain. I am looking forward to the rain. Our pond is way too low on water.

Turkeys are all over the place. I haven't seen that since about 2006. We also had a small migration of the Monarch butterflies. It was so pretty.

I don't think Jerry had ever seen anything like that before because he came running into the house and said -- come here and be quiet.!!

Butterflies were everywhere.

It's so wonderful to see the excitement in his eyes. Just like a kid when they first see something like that.

Love it.

Do you remember the first time the Tooth Fairy came to your house!

I do---I looked under my pillow in the morning and there it was--

A NICKLE!

I could go to the 5 and Dime and get a penny sucker and a ring that would turn my finger green!!

I was RICH!!!

Have things changed or what???

I'm having one of those days!

You KNOW what I'm talking about. One of those days that's kinda lazy, but needs to be productive.

One of those days that a nap sounds REALLY good and you can't go to sleep for NOTHING!!

Jerry and Sarah are both in the other room snoring away and I on the other hand can't sleep. I'm waiting for a friend to come by and get her samples and books as she goes on her way to Chickasha.

Some of the towns and cities in Oklahoma are VERY difficult to spell.

We have a Nowatta, and a Nowalla, there is a Sayre and a Burns Flat, there is a Agawam and a Alex. and then we have the really difficult ones like , Gene Autry and Cache, or Lawton-Fort Sill, or Alma then there's Alva and so many more.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Oklahoma.

And the song is so true----the wind DOES come sweeping down the plains. And the wheat grows so pretty in Western Oklahoma. Mustangs in the Arbuckle mountains, which are the oldest mountains in the country.

Then we have Meers, which is just a eating place now, but at one time was a mining town. It now houses one of the major seismic readers in the country. If it weren't for the fact that Oklahoma is in the middle of the country, we would have to worry about the state being split into two pieces. Worse than in California.

It's kinds funny the things that go on in Oklahoma. We were the first place for parking meters----and fiber optic lines. We had the first drive in eating places and the first chicken eatery that served the chicken on paper and called the place Chicken in the Rough.

We still have the longest strip of old Route 66 and we have the largest citizens of American Indian descent in Oklahoma.

It's kinda funny----but really great!

Jerry has three houses!!

I don't know about everyone else but when there is no one but us in the house to eat--we sit and watch the TV!

I know that all the experts tell us that this is a no-no.

Well, at OUR house its a YES-YES-YES!!!

Jerry also gets very cold when the AC comes on as his red recliner is very close to the vent. So, of course, it blows right on him.

I made the comment that he needed to change his new recliner for the old recliner that was his dads. And he liked the idea. That way he wouldn't get too cold or too hot when and if we have to turn on the heat.

This is the recliner he got that was his dad's. They bought it in 1975. I don't really think that recliners will last that long anymore. I put the Navajo blanket on it because it reminds me of the time we spent in New Mexico and because it helps to keep the upholstery clean.

The only thing we didn't think about was all the THINGS that Jerry was around his home inside a home.

Like his house shoes.

Or, his salt and pepper shakers!!

or what about all of his snacks!!

Like I said--it's his home inside his home.

He's so cute when he reaches right over and gets his salt shaker and then another time when he picks that mixed nuts box up off the floor and gets a handful.

He's right at home!!

This is the one we bought because the red one was not working--there was something wrong with the mechanism used to put up the foot thingie.

So we bought this new one. Jerry moved the red one out from the wall and put in the new one. Sat down in the new one and got up and sat in his dad's chair. \

AND THE FOOTREST WENT UP AND STAYED UP!!

We both laughed.

We went all the way to OKC to get the new chair and really didn't need it. But that's OK!

It's paid for and he really likes it because its' so comfy.

The move has FINALLY been completed!

He has ALL his things around him and sometimes -- yes -- he does sit in his dad's old chair just because.

Sometimes I wonder!!

Why do I think of myself as fat instead of thinking of myself on the way to slim.

Why do I worry so much about Jerry and his memory loss.

Why do I not worry about the weather when I KNOW that -- in Oklahoma -- tornadoes are prevalent some parts of every year.

Why do I think like a clown.

Why don't I mind going on into the world without my makeup on

Why do I love to put makeup on and look my best

Why do I not sweat -- it's true and it's dangerous.

Why do I still love all those people who have hurt my feelings so bad

Why

I know -- it's because I am a child of God.

Today I had to --

I had to realize that I am not as young as I used to be.!!

I don't bounce back from a bad sleep night as quickly as I used to do.

When I was much younger --- back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth --- I could go on very little sleep. Just ask anyone.

Our son did not sleep all night until he was almost three.

He's still a night owl. But when it's a work day tomorrow--he does go to bed at a reasonable hour.

I have NOT had a nap today!!

No, I did NOT!!

I had things to do and I have gotten them done.

But I sure did want to take a nap!!

I must be getting old???

NEVER!!

OLD is just a phrase that some YOUNG people give us who are mor3e intelligent as a nickname.

I will not EVEN talk about being OLD!!

NOT!!

And NEVRY EVERY to you!~!

My grandsons!!

Yesterday we had a family get together -- again. With one exception -- or maybe two.

Andrew was here! Holly couldn't make it -- Andrew's fiance.

And Nonie -- our only granddaughter wasn't here and neither was Ken and his wife May. These three live in Maryland and love it.  Too many people for me -- even though I do love all that history.

So, anyway while the guys were here Our Lynn dished up all the food for the guys and got them tea and extras. and all that. Now Lynn is a very thoughtful person, but is wise in that she never did for her kids what they could do for themselves.

I wondered!

And then it happened!!

She asked them if they would pose for a picture since they were all together for the first time in a year.
To name them all we have Nonie in the back and from left to right in the guy row is David Ray , Richard Tyler, and Andrew. David Ray and Tyler are Our Dave's sons and Nonie and Andrew are Our Lynn's kids.

In the NOW picture we had them all sit in the same places and look the same ways.

The oldes is 28 and two youngest are 26, but I never heard so much moaning and groaning from anyone. I hear ---- If I get down I probably won't be able to get up. And If I cross my legs like that they will stay that way.

They had a really good time.

And I thank them for it.
